Fundraising Coordinator Volunteer

A passion for the elderly and a strong interest in, and commitment to, the elderly is part of what will make this more than a job for the successful incumbent. Responsible for raising money and other kinds of donations, one must plan and oversee campaigns and events and help to create and maintain a professional and respected public profile. An interesting, satisfying and challenging position –

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be responsible for researching prospective donors, creating a strong fundraising message that appeals to potential donors, 
  • Responsible for managing, planning and coordinating all School of Empowerment: AFRICA fundraising events that will lead to soliciting donations,
  • Organize online giving campaigns, coordinate peer-to-peer fundraising and develop other fundraising opportunitiesmaintain records of donor information for future use and ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied
  • Work with The Fundraising Director  and/ or  the Executive Assistant Director on creating and maintaining a development calendar.
  • Solicit and secure donations and sponsorships for events, including in-kind donated food, beverages and other items.
  • Accurately record event donations, ensure timely acknowledgements and tax receipts are sent.
  • Coordinate event venue rental, A/V requirements and food and beverage needs, generating marketing and publicity related to these events,
  • Coordinate talking points/speeches for Executive Director, client guest speakers and emcee.
  • Assist with recruiting and managing event volunteer workers and assist with day-of event oversight.
  • Solicit feedback and constructive criticism after events conclude, discuss possible changes with PR & Development team and relevant planning committees.
  • Solicit donations from private enterprises that may use such donations for tax purposes and/or creating a positive social responsibility profile; these donations may take the form of money or as donated goods or services that the fundraising can use.
  • Act as a representative of the School of Empowerment: AFRICA in the community and as a spokesperson for fundraising marketing and donor cultivation.
  • Familiarize self with and follow facility and department policies and procedures.
  • Follow all personnel policies.
  • All other jobs responsibilities as specified by Fundraising Director and/ or  the Executive Assistant Director

To be considered you have:
  • SA driver’s license and own vehicle
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising – prior experience in areas such as sales or marketing beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the charity sector and the particular cause area.
  • Experience in mobilising funds from institutional / corporates and other donors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Grant/proposal writing is a major part of this work, so strong writing and editing skills.
  • A flexible approach to work and a “can-do” attitude to challenges and change;
  • Be available to work unsocial hours including public holidays, weekends and some evenings as the nature of the role requires this.
  • Fully comply with the Chid Protection Act and Consumer Protection Act (CPA) this includes keeping records securely in such a manner as to protect confidentiality of any information disclosed and retained no records of any committed givers after submitting information to SOEAFRICA.

  • Ability to manage budgets and hit fundraising targets Good IT skills.
  • Support marketing day-to-day operations including media campaigns, promotions and projects.
  • Arrange and coordinate special events, projects and mailings.
  • Research, maintain and report on marketing data to aid management in determining marketing direction.
  • Assist in creating materials used for proposals, correspondence and presentation materials and reports.
